I have found with other brain games that speed is used as a way to measure brain response, however, if you have arthitis in your hands as I do, I am not able to respond quickly. This, in my view is a huge problem for seniors as response times do not take into account arthritic hands and fingers therefore giving an incorrect result. Should there be a way to take this into consideration as a handicap within the app, then that would make it a reliable too. This does not seem possible at the present time.

Hi Jill: This is an interesting aspect, I agree. Tremor is also a concern.

But, actually for the specific brain training program we looked at in this post, they seemed to us to have handled the issue of arthritis etc reasonably well. The way the exercises work is that the images you respond to flash quickly onto the screen so your brain needs to respond quickly. However, you then have a long time to manually select the appropriate button, which means you do not need to be manually fast. It seems to us this takes care of the arthritis concern does it not? Please respond if you still see an issue, though.

Thanks…sounds like this is ideal.

i have been a member of a 20 year AZD study currenlty housed at Johns Hopkins in Baltimore called BIOCARD. Doing something like this Brain HQ does not delay AZD onset according to studies done of similar options. You just get better at whatever you are doing.

Hi Paul: Thx for the comment. I think you will find the next installment of this series interesting, where we take a deep dive into the scientific literature relating to the question of "how effective is brain training". :)

I am surprised that you used only TWO people to evaluate this “tool”. Having been with you many years, this is not what I would have expected. Past topics, tools etc., have been much more researched by many before you shared your expertise with your followers.

Sorry you feel that way. Our intent was to paint a picture for those unfamiliar with the tool as to how it worked and what it was like to use it. We felt we could do that well with a small number of explorers sharing their experience.

As I am losing some words, it would be interesting after determining the efficacy of brain games to also to investigate the use of nootropics to improve synapses and/or flow of blood to the brain that has been proven as beneficial by Independant research .
